  2. 2011 Competition Overview • Purpose: provides entrepreneurs with the best possible resources to help convert ideas into reality – team creation, education, networking, mentorship and new venture financing • Eligibility: At least 1 team member is a current student or alum from U.C. Berkeley or UCSF • Format: 3 rounds of judging by a panel of VCs and select professionals. • Exec Summary & Semi-Finals: teams compete in industry-focused tracks, which will likely include: • Internet & Web • Life Sciences • Finals: Track winners compete for Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award • Semi-finalists not competing participate in Elevator Pitch Competition • Energy & Resources • Products & Services

Prizes & Competition Timeline • Prizes: $50k + in prizes will be awarded in the Semi-Final & Final Rounds • Semi-Final Round: $20k + • Track winners and Second place • Final Round: $30k + • Grand Prize, People’s Choice, Elevator Pitch • Key Dates: You have all fall to form teams, hone ideas and get ready! • Fall: Best Practices Series and mixers with UCSF, EECS, Haas, Boalt • Late January: Exec summary due • Early February: VCs and entrepreneurs judge exec summaries • February through April: Mentoring and feedback sessions for 40+ teams • Mid-March: Preliminary business plans due • Early April: Feedback and mentorship event • Mid-April: Final business plans due • Late April: Semi-finals and Finals
