Managing for Development Results (MfDR) is a development planning and management approach or strategy which emphasizes outcomes or results to ensure development effectiveness. • Governments are increasingly being called upon to be more accountable for results. • Citizens, parliamentarians and media expect “national public management”to focusbeyondinputs, activitiesand outputstowards“outcomes”and“impacts”.

Institutionalizing MfDR in Sri Lanka • The Ministry of Plan Implementation (MPI) has commenced a number of initiatives to institutionalize "MfDR" within government • Established a core group • Selected few Ministries • Developed Agency Results Framework (ARF) • Introduced a score card for each Ministry • Including KPI in to the Budget Estimates in 2010

Mainstreaming and Cascading MfDR • We mainstream/cascade • - National Development Plan (National Results Framework) • - Sector Plans (Sector Results Framework) • - Institution (Agency Results Framework) • - Projects (Project Results Framework) • - Provincial Plan (Provincial Results Framework)
