What is Social Bookmarking? • A method forInternet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet • The ability to save and categorize a personal collection of bookmarks and share them with others. Users may also take bookmarks saved by others and use them for themselves • Users can save the links to web pages they would like to remember and or share with others

  3. What is Delicious? • A social service that allows users to tag, save, manage and share web pages from a centralized source • Greatly improves how people discover, remember and share on the Internet • delicious video

  4. The benefits for teachers… Many educational possibilities: 1. Web sites for student research on projects 2. Book recommendations 3. Professional research 4. List of books/publications you would like to read 5. Placing web links on your school web page 6. Students can find resources at home & access them at school an vs. 7. Share what you are reading/ view what your peers are reading on the web 8. Web site collections tagged by school topics

The benefits for students… - Research • They are able to use Delicious as a “search engine” • find “scholarly” articles (reviewed by other users/teacher(s)/given thumbs up) - Assigned readings • “tagged articles/journals/book pages, etc” • Usually found on teachers page/account - If students have a delicious account: • Teacher can SEND the entire class bookmarks that pertain to what is being taught in the classroom (homework-readings) • this can be an article, etc. (all subjects)
