  2. The Antofagasta (Village of Big Salt) Region includes 9 communities: • 1. Antofagasta • 2. Calama • 3.- Tocopilla • 4.- Mejillones • 5. Taltal • 6. San Pedro de Atacama • 7. Maria Elena • 8. Sierra Gorda • 9. Ollague

  3. It has a surface area of 126.049 square km. Between the censuses 1992 and 2002, the population grew by 20.3%, becoming the second region on population growth of the country Its population is 410.724 people, which represents 3% of the national population, and has a density of 3.92 inhabitants per square km. The Community of Antofagasta is the capital of the Region and has a population of 296.905 inhabitants
