  1. Welcome to Open House 2013-2014

  2. Middle School Rules BE ON TIME BE PREPARED (seated with all materials/ homework and supplies when class begins) BE RESPONSIBLE (Complete all assignments on time/ be responsible for your own education) BE RESPECTFUL (Respect each other’s opinions, space, and belongings) Use Common Sense

  3. Expectations Everyone has the right to, and should expect to, learn Each individual is worthy of respect Classroom orderliness is necessary for an effective classroom Hard work is necessary for learning

  4. Preparation Students are expected to be in class, on time, each day with all necessary supplies. Students should come prepared with pens/pencils, their reading & writing notebooks, paper, novels/textbooks & COMPLETED HOMEWORK assignments each day.

  5. Grading Scale A= 100%-90% B= 89%-80% C=79%-70% D=69%-60% F= 59% and Below

  6. Late Work/ Missing Work It is The Student’s responsibility to obtain homework assignments, notes, and any other pertinent information that is missed during an absence

  7. During an excused absence (ex. illness, travel), that student is allowed the number of days absent in order to make-up work. During an unexcused absence (ex. suspension, truancy), assignments are due the day the student returns to class.

  8. Late work turned in and not associated with an absence WILL NOT receive full credit. All missing assignments are recorded as a ZERO. Late assignments: ½ credit will be given to the student for assignments received 1 day late. After one day, the assignment will be recorded as missing, and that assignment will be given a ZERO.

  9. Gradebook Grades will be entered into Gradebook by the teacher, and parents/ students can view their grades at anytime via parent/student portal.

  10. All students do not learn the same way, or on the same day. Students will, therefore, have the option to petition the teacher for an additional opportunity to demonstrate understanding of specific concept. The student should arrange a time to meet with the teacher to redo an assignment or exam, in hopes of obtaining a better grade. This opportunity does not apply to missing work.
