  2. Show the students some pictures about cartoon heroes.

  3. Lead in • Work in pairs.Answer the questions about the cartoon characters. • What country do they come from? • Nero is from America;Shrek is from America;the Monkey King is from China;Tintin is from Belgium;Snoopy is from America.

  4. Are they recent cartoons or old cartoons? • Nero and Shrek are very new,and the Monkey King ,Tintin and Snoopy are old cartoon characters.

  5. Use the words in the box to describe the cartoon characters. • cute emperor fan club heaven lovable mess monster private

  6. Play the recording twice .Ask the students to answer the questions. • How many cartoon heroes are there in the passage?What are they? • Five .Nero Shrek the Monkey King Tintin Snoopy • Who's the creator of Snoopy? • Charles Schultz.

  10. "the Emperor in heaven " • Is heaven a pleasant or an unpleasant place in the cartoon? • Heaven is not a pleasant place in the story.

  12. Talk and write • Ask the students to talk about their favourite cartoon heroes,then write a paragraph describing the cartoons.
