  2. ways to reduce carbon dioxide emission • If you are about to purchase an automobile, consider a gas efficient model.  There are several manufacturers that make comfortable five passenger vehicles that get over 30 miles per gallon.  There are even a few that get over forty. • When possible, bike ride or walk for shorter errands. • Try replacing your incandescent and halogen lighting with compact fluorescent light bulbs. These investments will pay for themselves quickly, and sharply reduce your electricity bill. • Insulating your home saves energy • Insulating your water heater and hot water pipes save a lot of energy • Solar hot water saves money and helps save the planet. • Taking shorter showers can help reduce carbon dioxide.

  3. How industries can reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Process manufacturing software specialist Aspen Technology says engineers and researchers across industry and academia are using its aspenONE carbon capture simulation software to fight global warming. Recently, AspenTech released out-of-the-box modeling functionality for coal gasification, bio-fuels and other alternative energy sources. Air Liquide is taking part in several large-scale research projects in Europe and in North America, testing processes that use oxygen (so-called "oxy-combustion") to minimize carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from industry. Oxy-combustion is a promising solution for reducing the intensity of CO2 emissions from traditional industrial activities such as coal-fired power plants, blast furnaces and cement plants. Using oxygen, instead of air for the combustion of coal or other fuels, results in exhaust gases of relatively pure CO2 that is ready for capture, storage or direct use. Air Liquide provides oxygen, engineering and combustion expertise, as well as equipment for the safe and efficient handling of the oxygen used during testing.

  4. Electric Cars Reduce Carbon Dioxide With global warming threatening the future, generations depend on foreign oil. This is becoming an issue of international conflict. All cars should be switched to electric, it would be a little more difficult, but in the end it would be worth it. With all electric powered cars, it would reduce a significant amount of carbon dioxide. It could be one more thing to help save us from global warming. • Reduces CO2 by zero emission from the exhaust. • To produce an electric car, natural resources are reduced a great deal. Not as much metal is used in an electric car.

  5. This chart shows CO2 emissions by gas-electric plug-in hybrids depending on the electricity source. As you can see, plug-ins beat the conventional gasoline-powered vehicle in all situations, but the comparison with a regular hybrid vehicle is more complex. • Depending on the power source, it can go from slightly worse than the hybrid to about twice as good and three times as good as the conventional car.

  6. SAVE WATER!!! Never put water down the drain when there may be another use for it such as watering a plant or garden, or cleaning. Check to see if you have any leaks, because many homes have hidden water leaks. Read your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, there is a leak. Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily. Dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet. Use the minimum amount of water needed for a bath by closing the drain first and filling the tub only 1/3 full. Stopper tub before turning water. The initial burst of cold water can be warmed by adding hot water later. Don't let water run while shaving or washing your face. Brush your teeth first while waiting for water to get hot, then wash or shave after filling the basin. Operate automatic dishwashers and clothes washers only when they are fully loaded or properly set the water level for the size of load you are using.
