Journal #3: Sense of Place • We are going to visit the commons to practice using sensory details. • Find a place to sit and write. • Consider the attitude/feeling you have about this place (in general, at this moment, etc.) • Describe the place using as many senses as you can. Try to use your details to communicate your dominant impression. • The Catch: You may not describe what you see

  2. “Piedra” Discussion • After reading the piece, identify the following: • Dominant Impression • Vantage Point • Method of Organization • In your groups… • For your element of language, find three good examples from the essay. • For each example, show how it helps to develop the dominant impression.
