SoLID Status Update • Main Progress: • pCDR, completed • All sub-systems have ‘final” conceptual design • Cost estimation, iterated with Hall A/Physics Division • Main contents, iterations in progress • Background: (Zhiwen Zhao, Rich Holmes, RakithaBeminiwattha) • Difficulties with realistic background situation, especially for PVDIS • Optimize design of the baffles to reduce background • Identify source/profile of background • Considerations/impacts on triggers, offline PID and tracking • EM calorimeter: (Xiaochao) • Simulation and study impact of background, pile-up • Variable level of cuts (radial and azimuthal angle) for trigger • Pre-shower design, MAPMTs • Scintillator Pad Detector (SPD) to reduce photo background. • Impact on trigger • Full simulation for SIDIS • Set up pre-R&D test stand (with DAQ system) • Light Cherenkov: (Michael Paolone) • Simulation with background • Combined with EC for trigger and for offline analysis.
