  14. Conservation Plan Things to watch for on the materials currently within and planned for inclusion in the collection: • Brittle paper • Discoloration • Mold • Pest damage • Odor • Soil • Stains • Tears • New media for storing digital photos • Wear on USB drive • The collection is currently housed in the apartment of Gloria Castorena in Syracuse, NY. The apartment has central heat and air, so it maintains a constant comfortable temperature. The apartment complex is brand new just opening this past year and is free of any rodents or other pests posing a potential threat to the quality of the materials. • As the collection is house in a plastic box with a secure lid, it is unlikely to encounter any harm being stored beneath the bed. As Gloria will be moving to an apartment downstairs within a few months, transporting the collection will need to be taken with great care.

  15. Preservation & Security • Fire alarms. Sprinklers, and fire extinguisher are features of the apartment complex. Although a fire is very unlikely, the threat of water damage or fire damage is a concern considering almost 200 people live in the same complex and could potentially create a fire hazard. • The collection is currently in great condition, housed in folders (with acid free paper separating each item) and plastic bags for the clothing. These items are placed underneath the bed to avoid exposure to sunlight. The collection has a low risk of theft, as Gloria’s room is only accessible by her and her landlord.

  16. Collection Development Possible Items to Acquire: • Autographs signed • Alternative images • Video • Music on iPod or CDs • Guitar Pick • Drum Sticks • Items acquired would have to be from 2008-2009. • Must enhance the experience of attending these concerts in Austin. • Priority would be give to items donated from the bands or artist.
