Making the Connection: Handset • Turn the phone over and locate the handset jack marked • Insert one end of handset cord into the jack until it clicks into place. • Then route the handset cord through the groove as shown in the illustration. • Attach the handset to the other end of the handset cord.

39. Making the Connection: Headset • Turn the phone over and locate the headset jack marked • Insert the headset cord into the jack until it clicks into place. • Then route the headset cord through the groove as shown in the illustration.

Making the Connection: Desk Installation • There are two (2) legs with four (4) different viewing angles • Legs can be reversed • For a higher viewing angle, use the second and third slots from the top. For a lower viewing angle, use the first and second slots from the top • Then, simply push the stand towards the phone until it snaps into place

42. 560M Making the Connection: Expansion Modules • Connecting the 560M Expansion Modules to your Phone • Connect the RJ-45 cable from the EM to the RJ-45 port on the back of your phone • Install the 2 provided screws • Note: Install additional modules as applicable. You must attach any additional module to the right side of an existing module.

Making the Connection: 57iCT Cordless Telephone • Battery Installation • The handset is powered by a nickel metal hydride battery pack. • Remove the cover of the battery compartment from the bottom of the handset • Place the battery pack in the battery compartment with the connector wires pointing towards the bottom of the handset • Connect the battery terminal wire to the charging pins within the battery compartment • Slide the cover of the battery compartment from the bottom of the handset until it locks into place • Charging Cradle • Plug the modular cord of the power adapter into the jack on the bottom of the cradle. • Plug the other end of the power adapter into a non-switched AC outlet.

Physically Connecting the Phone • Power up the phone using AC or PoE. • All models support 802.3af PoE compatible devices • Telephone will “boot” • Default / Basic config • Configuration Server info loaded; i.e. TFTP, FTP, HTTP • Initial firmware boot - 2 minute boot time • Telephone ready for “customer specific” information loaded

46. Setting up the Phone • There are 3 methods of programming the phone. • 1. Phone UI • Admin • User • 2. WEB UI • Admin • User • 3. Configuration Files • Admin only NOTE:There are specific parameters you can configure using only the IP Phone UI, or only the Web UI, or only the Configuration Files, or a combination of any of these methods.

Configuration Files “Rules” - Important • Configuration File Precedence • Aastra IP phones can accept two sources of configuration data: • aastra.cfg/<mac>.cfgfrom aConfiguration server • Phone User Interface (UI) or Web UI changes • Configuration changes hierarchy: • Web UI or Phone UI – first priority (override all others) • Configuration files – second level priority • Factory default options – third level priority • Hierarchy changes will override lower priority levels • For example: • Configuration file sets a button to be Call Forwarding • Change is made using Web UI to change CF to DND • DND can not be changed by the config file method; WebUI is higher priority

49. Setting up the Phone – Phone UI • 1. Phone UI – The IP Phone User Interface (UI) provides an easy way to access features and functions for using and configuring the IP phone • An Administrator can configure all features and functions available on the phone • A User can configure a subset of these features and functions • The user typically sets up personalized phone settings such as ring tones, display contrast, audio levels, speed dials, etc. • The Administrator can enter “Administrator Mode” which is password protected to set up parameters like configuration server, network settings, SIP settings, etc. • Phone UI Access • On the telephone press the “Options” button to enter Options list • Default Administrator password is “22222”
