  2. What Is CPR • CPR is also called cardiopulmonary (kahr-dee-o-PUL-mo-nar-ee) resuscitation (ree-sus-i-TAY-shun). CPR is used when a person stops breathing . • Giving CPR make get the victim breathing and heart beating again. • If you start CPR early and does it right you may keep them from dying • Adult CPR should be use on someone over the age of eight years old • When a person heart is still breathing then rescue breathing is done. • Rescue breathing means breathing for the person by giving him rescue breaths

  3. Why would someone need CPR? • A heart attack is the most common reason why an adult would need CPR. A heart attack happens when part of the heart muscle dies because it does not have oxygen. • Drinking overdose • Choking • Lightening Strike • Stroke(Blood supply to part of the brain is stopped • Breathing in smoke for example: when your trapped in a fire • Drowning

  4. Starting to Attempt CPR • Attempt to wake victim. • If the victim does not wake up call 911. • Briskly rub your knuckles against the victim's sternum. If the victim does not wake. • If the victim wakes, moans, or moves, then CPR is not necessary at this time. • Call 911 if the victim is confused or not able to speak. • The worst thing a rescuer can do is become another victim. Follow universal precautions and wear personal protective equipment if you have it.

Beginning CPR • Begin rescue breathing by the chin lift, head tilt method. • Put your ear to the victim's open mouth: • Look for chest movement. • Listen for air flowing through the mouth or nose. • Feel for air on your cheek. • If there is no breathing, pinch the victim's nose; Make a seal over the victim's mouth with yours. Use a CPR mask if available.

  6. How to Perform CPR • First, find hand position on breastbone. • . To find hand position find the notch where the lower ribs meet the breastbone. • Place the heel of your hand on the breastbone. • Use the heel of your bottom hand to apply pressure on the breastbone. • Next position your shoulders over your hands. Compress the chest 15 times.

  7. After you have compress their chess tilt their chin up and begin 2 slow breaths to the mouth. Do 3 more sets of 15 compressions and 2 breaths. Call the local emergency number if you have not already done so Thenrecheck pulse and breathing for about 5 seconds. If there is no pulse continue the sets of 15 compressions and 2 breaths.   8. How to Give CPR to a Child • First, find your hand position on about the center of the breastbone. • Next, position your shoulders over your hands. Then, compress the chest 5 times. • Tilt their head back and give 1 slow breath. • Repeat the cycles of 5 compressions and 1 breath for about one minute, around 12 cycles. • Call the local emergency number if you have not already done so. • Then recheck pulse and breathing for about 5 seconds.

How to Give CPR to a infant • First, find your finger position on about the center of the breastbone • Next, compress the chest 5 times with two fingers. • Tilt their head back and give 1 slow breath, from cheeks filled with air. • Repeat the cycles of 5 compressions and 1 breath for about one minute, around 12 cycles. • Call the local emergency number if you have not already done so. • Then recheck pulse and breathing for about 5 seconds.
