  1. Studies of Molecular Photoruptures by using 2 Dimension (2+1) and (3+1) REMPI-TOF Jingming Long 15/09/2010

  2. WHAT WHY HOW About project High Energy Rydberg States of Molecules; Spectroscopy and Photofragmentation processes; A fundamental role in various photochemical and photophysical processes, and so on Resonance Enhanced Multiphoton Ionization –Time of Flight (REMPI-TOF) ---2D (2+1) REMPI, (3+1)REMPI REMPI-current (University of Iceland,Iceland) Two color, Nanosecond(UV/Vis) + Femtosecond(IR) experiment (University of Bergen,Norway) Synchrotron studies (Paul Sherrer Institute, Switzerland)

  3. CONDITION Instruments: Excimer(308nm XeCl) Dye Laser( Lambda Physik) SHG, Sirah, Vaccum chambe Diffusion pump, turbo pump Lecroy oscilloscope 400MHz/2.5GS/S and so on Group: Prof. Agust Kvaran Dr. Victor Huasheng Wang Ph.D student Kristján Matthíasson Collaborators: Professors J.P. Hansen and F. Øyvind , University of Bergen Dr. Erik Horsdal, University of Aarhus and so on About project

  4. Experimental equipment

  5. Experimental equipment

  6. Experimental equipment Sketch of the experimental setup to perform two-color experiments University of Bergen

  7. Main research compounds i) Hydrogen halides (HX; X = Cl, Br, I) ii) Halogens, X2 and interhalogens XY; X,Y = Cl, Br, I, X ≠ Y iii) Freons, CFnXm; X = Cl, Br, I.

  8. 1hn 2hn Hcl Typical 2D REMPI-TOF graph

  9. Summarization of the first half year of 2010 PD: Power Dependent Old dye laser: Lumonics New dye laser: Scanmate Pro

  10. Parts of LabVIEW programs

  11. Different horizontal resolution at the same vertical resolution for mass spectrum 10 000 Pnts 500 Pnts After next trigger What’s its value?? 1000 Pnts 50 000 Pnts

  12. Different vertical resolution at the same horizontal resolution for mass spectrum Vertical resolution:1/256 Vertical resolution:1/65536

  13. Example---HCl mass spectrum Old data New data

  14. Improvement What’s the meaning? Old New 0~65535/2Byte Max 50000pnts At 2us Higher resolution? 0~255/1Byte 500pnts YES More time? More than 2s Transmitted time NO Less than 1s Larger filesize? 500*1*(100 cm-1/0.1cm-1) Byte 50000*2*(100 cm-1/0.1cm-1) Byte YES More work for data processing? NO Manual Automatic Larger uncertain, Mass spectrum overlap Weaker background of spectra? Smoothness YES

  15. Work with Kari to finish the measurement and analysis of (2+1) REMPI experiment of CF3Br Perform the experiment of 2D (3+1) REMPI-TOF of HCl Try to obtain the unexplored REMPI spectra of High Rydberg states Then analyze, make assignments… If everything goes well, prepare to write relevant academic papers. Plan for the latter half year of 2010

  16. To design and finish a Igor pro “toolkit” contains a series of procedures to Process REMPI-TOF experimental data, perform simulations and so on, which can be shared by our group easily. For example, the procedures we has finished, REMPI IntegrateV2.2,Mass IdentifyV1.0. To optimize the REMPI-TOF LabVIEW program. Make it easy to operate and also be used in teaching of undergraduate experiment. Plan for the latter half year of 2010 During this period

  17. Thank YOU!
