Member Views - Summary • Importance of personal mobility is at a record high and ‘solutions’ should recognise this • Motorists’ concern about the environmental impact of cars remains high - highest level since surveys began in 1995 • Widespread and strong support for upgraded public transport services and new routes • Strong support for completing missing links in freeway network and outer metro improvements 2

  10. Member Views - Summary Over half of respondents (54%) believe traffic congestion in Victoria has become ‘much worse’ than 5 years ago and 31% feel it is ‘a little worse’.

  11. Member Views - Summary Almost two in three (63%) expect Victoria’s traffic congestion to become ‘much worse’ in 5 years time and about one in four (24%) said ‘a little worse’. Metropolitan based respondents are a bit more pessimistic – 66% compared with 56% elsewhere. This view also increases with age – 47% of the under 30s, 64% of the 30-44 age group, 70% of the 45-54s and 73% of the 55 plus age group.
