The Need • Cities are becoming densely populated yet the distances between people have increased! • Communities have become cluster of boxy housing and standard stores and supermarkets. • People do not feel part of the community they live in. • People are not happy with the governance, but they also do not know what to do and do not feel the urge to participate. What’s the way out?

The idea (from government’s perspective) • Let people rediscover their own community’s identity on their own. Local government can act as facilitator. • This will give people chance to come together and discuss their ideas – enable discussion and bonding. • Let people create symbols that represent their community’s identity in the community. • Encourage people identify problem areas for their community and also come up with solution proposals for it. • Support the implementation of ideas.
Result • Community gets identity. • People feel more connected to their community. • People participate in community affairs with more commitment. • Mutual trust among community members. • People Happy, Government Happy.
