  8. HCFLA NewsLINE NewsLINE began in Hamilton Centre initially as a campaign tool designed to support & promote our candidate and the Liberal Party’s election campaign platform.

  9. NewsLINE content • Focus on local events & activities • Encourage members’ participation – at events and by providing copy & photos • Content: community events, ED news & notices, LPC material, news from external sources, other ridings’ activities

  11. 10 steps to newsletter production • Draft a newsletter production plan • The plan should include identification of key target audiences: internal = ED members & supporters; external = community organizations, cultural & religious groups, civic leaders, unions, media, other EDs, LPCO, LPC, business leaders & organizations & other stakeholders

Newsletter guidelines • Quality matters: use Canadian Press Style Guide and Caps & Spelling (available in hard copy or on-line) • Establish editorial & proofreading protocol – “the dreaded approval process” – ensure ALL outgoing material is vetted by your president and your candidate (or designates) – remember: you cannot be your own editor
