  1. Welcome to Math Enrichment Lisa Fillat

  2. Program in a Nutshell The math enrichment program focuses on deepening students’ understanding of number sense, place value, fractions, and rational numbers. Aligned with the national common core standards and the district curriculum, the program allows students to experience mathematics through project-based learning and hands-on activities that engage children with the numbers that surround them in their day-to-day lives. Each year, the math small group enrichment curriculum builds upon itself challenging students to think critically, work efficiently, and reflect on their new learning.

  3. I will be taking students out of class for 15 days during their math block.I speak to teachers ahead of time to find out where they are in the core curriculum. I will then pre-assess students on topics their classroom will be learning during the following 15 days. I will compact that curriculum into 4-6 days. The remaining 9-10 days we will get to focus on our enrichment units. The goal is that the students will return to their classes seamlessly.

  6. As I am sure you have all noticed, math is not taught the same way as you or I were taught.
