The SysAdmin SIG strives to enable System Administrators to become more effective and efficient in their jobs by providing them with access to people and information that can their System Administration knowledge and experience.

  17. OATM Migration • OATM takes into account the following object I/O characteristics of an object: • Its size • Its lifespan • Its access methods • Its locking granularity

OATM Migration Actions • Facilitate administration and configuration ease. • Take advantage of wide stripe configurations. • Allow for conversion to locally managed tablespaces with uniform extent size. Using uniform extent sizes allows for exact control over unused space. • Take advantage of Automatic Segment Management. • Reclaim space after the migration. • Increase block-packing, which will reduce the overall number of buffer gets. • Improve recovery times and procedures.
