  3. Introduction Deciding what job you want can be a challenging decision – there are so many things to consider, such as: What sort of job do you want? What type of business would you like to work in? Working outside? Are you qualified to work in that business? Working part time? Do you have what the business is looking for? Working with people?

  4. Recruitment How does an employer find the right person for the job? Know the right skills and experience needed for the job Advertise in the right place Give the right information in their adverts Ask the right questions in interview

  5. Person Specification What is a person specification? Describes the kind of person the employer is looking for – it could include: The person specification is a guide for the ideal applicant…. Experience Skills Initiative Attitude Working on your own Working with a team

  6. What kind of work do you want to do? Be involved in research and development Work from an office Work for an employer Be an educator Be self employed Work with new technology Do charity work Work from home

This should include: specific measurable SMART targets attainable Your goals realistic timely Qualifications you will need to enhance your career prospects
