  3. Marostica Human Chess Game Marostica’s Human Chess Game happens every 2 years in even numbered years. The chess game is proceeded by flag twirling, music, and festivities. It all culminates in fireworks over the lower castle. La Partita a Scacchi September 7-8-9 Tickets €80 - €10

Juliet’s Birthday (Verona) Verona's most famous lover's birthday is celebrated September 12thwith parades of the Courts of Montecchi and Capuleti (the feuding families that tried to keep the young lovers apart), dances, artists in the street, wandering musicians, magicians and many other groups of entertainers that fill the city with the ambience of the 1400s from 10 in the morning until 8 in the evening.

  5. Soave 83rd La Festadell’Uva “The Grape Festival” was born in 1929 and it’s the first of its kind in Italy. A lot of cultural and folkloristic events characterize the Feast of the Garganega Grapes, including a market, sagra, concerts, and grape stomping. September 15-16-17-18 Menu Fisso €18 Program (in Italian)

  6. Oktoberfest Oktoberfest is is arguably Europe’s biggest annual party, attracting nearly six million people.  Of course, the biggest draw of Oktoberfest are the fourteen free-to-enter beer tents. September 22 – October 7 Europe’s Biggest Party Program

Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival Ludwigsburg’s pumpkin festival is considered one of the world’s largest pumpkin exhibitions, with more than 400,000 pumpkins and over 450 different varieties from all over the world. The annual event is located at Ludwigsburg’s BlühendesBarock gardens inside the castle grounds in Germany. Annually every year from September through the first weekend in November.

Bardolino Grape and Wine Festival The area of Lake Garda is famous for the production of fine red wine and each year the city hosts this festival which features classical music concerts, fireworks, food stalls and plenty of wine tastings from local vineyards. Bardolino wine is made from a mixture of Corvina grapes (providing body and color), Rondinella (for the grassy flavor), Molinara (for fragrance) and Negrara (softness). October 4-5-6-7-8 Fireworks October 7 at 11pm

  9. PoggibonsiPigio (Grape Stomping) The town of Poggibonsiin the Chianti region of Tuscany hosts a traditional Pigio, a grape stomping competition. Ladies hitch up their skirts and men roll up their pants for this fun and rather messy spectacle. The contest, held in the main piazza, is between the seven districts of Poggibonsi and is a step back in time to the traditional methods of wine-making. First weekend of October each year.

  10. Soave Chocolando For 3 days the community of Soave welcomes chocolate masters from around the world to exhibit their chocolate creations. October 12-13-14

  11. Friuli DOC Fair (Udine) A fair of typical regional products offers colors, flavors, and traditions of Friuli. Stands with characteristic plates from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and Friulian wines, art exhibitions, competitions, concerts, shows, folkloristic performances, amusements for kids: all that and much more, to live and taste in a celebrative atmosphere in Udine. October 13-14-15-16

  12. Venzone Pumpkin Festival Musicians, jugglers, fire eaters, noblewomen and knights suddenly appear, as if they were coming out of some fairytale. Try a sampling of typical dishes such as pumpkin dumplings, pumpkin creams, and sweet pumpkin cake. October 27-28 FestadellaZucca
