  2. La Quinceañera • The transition from childhood to womanhood is a significant passage for adolescent girls in almost all cultures. • In Spanish speaking countries, it is marked with the celebration of the Quinceañero, or 15th Birthday.

  3. The Entrance • The girl will walk down the isle in her ‘Quinceañera’ dress, together with her parents, godparents, maids of honor and chamberlains.

  4. The parents of the Quinceañera (also the godparents of the shoes)

  5. The changing of the shoes • To represent her childhood, the Quinceañera wears flat shoes until her ‘Changing of the Shoes’ ceremony. • To celebrate this ceremony, the Quinceañera's parents or oldest brother will help her change her shoes from flats to high heels to symbolize her transformation into womanhood.

  6. The Godparents of the tiara

  7. The Tiara • The tiara denotes a "princess" before God and the world. • It signifies a triumph over childhood and the ability to face the challenges ahead.

  9. The Ring • The ring represents the never ending circle of life. • It symbolizes the unending stage of womanhood and the quinceañera's abilities and future contributions. • It also proclaims God's never ending love.

  11. The Bible • The bible is to be used as a guide on how to live ‘right’. • The ‘quinceañera’ should read the bible to find comfort and as a resource to keep the word of God in her life.
