  2. Building Background There are two basic types of volcanoes: a.) Fissure volcanoes Volcanoes occur along cracks, or fissures, in the earth’s crust. The volcanoes erupt quietly. Lava just move slowly from the crack & spread slowly. b.) Central volcanoes They explode from their central tube.
