  2. Cub Scouting supports boys and their families by giving boys the opportunity to put into practice the gospel principles they have learned at home and in Primary. (Scout Handbook, p.1)

  4. Who has stewardship for Cub Scouting? The BISHOP: The bishop is responsible to provide general direction for Scouting and ensure that it is properly organized and functioning.

Bishop’s Counselors • The bishop’s counselors help the bishop by overseeing the Scouting programs for eight-, nine-, ten-, and eleven-year-old boys… • Under the bishop’s direction, counselors should see that the various Scouting programs are organized as needed and that adult leaders are called and trained (Scouting Handbook, p. 2)

Leadership Responsibilities of Bishopric Counselor • 1) Provide enough quality leaders • 2) Support and encourage (in fact, insist on) BSA training for adult leaders and youth leaders (and one of the best ways to do this is to find monies to pay at least part of the costs for men to attend these courses) • 3) Get BSA scouting leadership training themselves for their age-group program .

  7. Leadership Responsibilities of Bishopric Counselor 4) Constant teaching/educating/promoting, with boys and their parents, of the importance and role of scouting programs in the Church's training of its young men. 5) Attend activities and camps when possible. 6) Participate in or even chair the committees (Troop or Pack)
