  1. band name Apollo Court Due to the indie/preppy appearance of our band, we researched into band names that would reflect this. Our final decision fell on ‘Apollo Court’ which is the name of a student hall in Liverpool University.

  2. BAND IMAGE • The images to the left portray what we feel our band should look like. Amalgamating both styles from the indie rock and preppy scene. We as a band we want to appear both creative and quirky, like we’re enjoying the music. We want to show a band who lives to play the music they love, not conform to modern society’s idea of popular music in order to sell out.

  3. Band Representation • As we said in our last slide, we want our band to stand for creativity and originality over conforming to generic, formulaic, conventions within the modern music scene. We believe having fun playing the music you love is essential and far more important than selling out and making it big. We’d rather stay small and enjoy what we do than to be manipulated by large record labels who change who we are in order to make a profit and thus becoming ‘mainstream’.

  4. Key Messages and Values • Key messages and values our band stand for • Be yourself. • Stand up for what you believe in. • Don’t conform in order to ‘fit in’. • Love what you do. • Embrace life!

  5. Band History and Career • Formed in 2011, after meeting in Liverpool University (deriving our name from our student hall). We started playing small gigs in and around Merseyside and North Wales. • This is our debut music video for our forthcoming single taken from our first EP. • We’re unsigned, and wish to stay that way. We record all our music in James’ parent’s garage using basic recording equipment and editing software.

  6. Genre • The genre we have been described as is something between indie and preppy rock, similar to that of vampire Weekend and The Temper Trap.

  7. Track • The track we have chosen to shoot our video for is The Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’. • We have chosen this song as we believe it encaptures what we believe in as a band. • It also suits us as a band and our chosen genre very well. • We believe it has a lot of potential, and with the right narrative, could produce a very successful music video. • Sweet Disposition

  8. Style of Promotional Material • We have a few ideas regarding our promotional material. We, as a band, wish to have a photo-shoot in quirky location, which is still undecided, to help portray our beliefs and what we stand for. One of these photos will be selected to use as our album cover and other aspects within the digipak. Apollo Court

  9. Target Audience • Our target audience would be very concise due to our individuality. Teenagers and young adults form the ages of sixteen to early twenties who are considered ‘indie’ or ‘preppy’ in any way would be targeted by our band, through our image, representation and the genre of our music. We believe that we would successfully reach out to target audience and create a successful franchise.
