  1. The Very Sleepy Koala

  2. Early one morning, deep in the jungle.Koala is fast asleep.But the rest of the animals are wide awake.

  3. speed. Cheetah is on the treadmill, working on her

  4. strength. Elephant is lifting heavy weights, working on her

  5. spring. Kangaroo is on the trampoline, working on her

  6. swing. Monkey is on the trees, working on her

  7. sleep. While Koala stays in the hammock, working on her

  8. That Koala is so lazy.

  9. All she does is lie there.

  10. Just dozing in her hammock.

  11. Hey, koala! We’re all working hard here. Why don’t you get up and do something?

  12. Monkey, if you’re so hard-working, you try lifting Elephant’s weights.

  13. “Easy!” says the Monkey, and she tries to lift the weights.

  14. Elephant giggles as the monkey topples right over. Ouch!

  15. Elephant! If you think it’s so easy, you jump like kangaroo.

  16. So Elephant tries to jump on the trampoline.Kangaroo shakes her head as Elephant falls right off.

  17. Don’t look at me like that, Kangaroo! Can you run like Cheetah?

  18. So Kangaroo tries the treadmill.Cheetah chuckles as Kangaroo lands on her bottom.

  19. Cheetah, if you are so smart, you swing like Monkey.

  20. So Cheetah climbs the high bars and swings right into Elephant.

  21. By now, everyone is very hot, very tired, and very, very angry. This is useless. Who causes all this trouble?

  22. It isn’t me. I am busy running.

  23. It isn’t me. I am busy jumping.

  24. It isn’t me. I am busy lifting.

  25. And it isn’t me. I am busy swinging.

  26. All the animals turn and look at koala. Hey, koala, you start all this.

  27. Koala turns lazily. You must see by now. We are all busy doing what we do best. Even me.

  28. The animals think about it. Yes! We’re all good at running or jumping or lifting or swinging. But Koala is the very best at sleeping.

  29. And with a stretch and a yawn Koala falls fast asleep. Exactly.
