  1. Easy And Quick Punjabi Chole Recipe Today we are going to make traditional Punjabi chole recipe or chana masala recipe. Let’s begin. What you need to start is washed and soaked kabuli chana or chickpeas. Put the chickpeas in a pan and add water and salt to taste. To give its natural brown color to this Punjabi chole recipe I am adding a tea leafs in a bag into the water. Give it a stir and cook for 45 minutes till it is nice and soft. Alternatively you can pressure cook it. After cooking them for 45 minutes you’ll see that the chickpeas have taken all the color from the tea bags and now you can discard the tea bags. Now let’s begin the cooking. Here’ how to make chana masala.

  2. Heat a pan on moderate flame and add oil and ghee. Add bay leaves. Once they start crackling a little, then add chopped onions. Cook them till they turn light brown in color. Add chopped ginger and slit chilies and some roughly bashed garlic. Give this a good mix. Add chopped tomatoes. Once these tomatoes become nice and soft start adding the dry masalas. Now this is the step where you can add chole masala which you get in the market easily or you can make your own. To create your own chole masala, add turmeric, amchur powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Give it a mix and make sure the masala cook nicely. Add now we are going to use a special Punjabi ingredient known as anardanas. Lightly crush the anardanas. Add these seeds in masala. This will make masala nice and aromatic. Add the prepared chickpeas into the masala. Add some water to adjust the consistency and cook for 10 minutes. To adjust the consistency of your Punjabi chole recipe you can use a masher and just mash the few of chole. And it’s ready, sprinkle some coriander leaves over it and serve it hot.
