  2. There are Two College Sports Governing Associations NCAA – National Collegiate Athletic Association NAIA - National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics

  3. NCAA has 3 Divisions Division I –Typically large, highly ranked schools with more financial aid available than other divisions. Note: Division I Schools further divide into Division IA and IAA (football only) Division II – Intermediate- level collegiate play with some athletic financial aid available. Division III - Consists of colleges that choose not to offer athletically related financial aid to their student-athletes.

NCAA Division I -Eligibility Requirements HS Coursework 4years of English 3years of Math(Alg I & higher) 2years of Science 1 additional year of an English, Math or Science 4additional years of any combination of English, Math, Science, Foreign Lang., philosophy/religion HS Coursework, ACT, and GPA

  6. HS GPA & ACT Requirement The ACT score required for Division I is based on your GPA. (See Mrs. Jones in SCC for scale) For example, with a 3.0 GPA you would need at least a 52 sum of ACT scores (GPA is figured on NCAA required HS courses only). Scale is available in SCC or online at www.eligibilitycenter.org ACT Score used by NCAA

  8. HS Requirements for NCAA-Division II HS Coursework 3 years of English 2 years of Math(Alg I & higher) 2years of Science 2 years of Social Science 3 additional years of English, Math or Science 4additional years of any combination of English, Math, Science, Foreign Lang., philosophy/religion

  9. HS GPA & ACT Requirements-NCAA Division II ► ACT Sum of Scores = or greater than 68 and ►GPA – 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and is figured based only on NCAA required HS coursework ACT Score used by NCAA

  10. NCAA-III Tennessee Schools Maryville College Rhodes College Sewanee: The University of the South

  11. There are no special requirements for NCAA-Division III Schools. (See school for admission requirements)

  12. NAIA - National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Every student who plays in the NAIA for the first time must have their eligibility determined through the NAIA Eligibility Center beginning in 2010.

  14. Eligibility Requirements for NAIA Schools Graduate from an accredited high school & Meet two (2) of the following requirements: ►Score minimum of 18 on the ACT (composite score) ► 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) ► Graduate in top 50% of your high school class

  15. How do I register? First, determine which governing association you will need to register with (NCAA/NAIA) according to your sport and college preference(s). For NCAA – ► Plan HS course selections according to NCAA eligibility requirements ► Go towww.ncaaeligibilitycenter.comand register by end of Semester 1 of Senior year. ► Come to SCC office to request transcript sent to NCAA. ► Continue to be aware of your GPA each semester and improve your ACT ► Use code “9999” to have ACT scores sent directly to NCAA

  16. Registration process for NAIA: ► Plan HS course selections according to college requirements ► Go to www.PlayNAIA.organd register by the end of Semester 1 of Senior Year. ► Come to SCC office to request transcript sent to NAIA. ► Continue to be aware of your GPA each semester and improve your ACT ► Use code “9876” to have ACT scores sent directly to NAIA
