  10. Głogów and its citizens About our town...

  11. Głogów defence Around the 10th century the town of Głogów was inhabited by a tribe called Dziadoszans which lived from farming. On 24th August 1109 the emperor Henry V approached the town with his army. The defenders of Głogów made a five-day truce with the emperor who took the defenders’ sons as hostages. However Bolesław Krzywousty never agreed to surrender Głogów. The emperor did not abide by the conditions of the truce and ordered to tie the hostages to the siege towers. They later died in the fight. The invasion lasted for many days. Finally the emperor’s army withdrew from the siege of Głogów and moved southwards.
