Why Develop ASQ • ABC practitioners were telling us war stories about how hard it was for them to update their ABC analysis and were complaining that there are few tools available to assist them in data collection • FMI consultants were concerned that long delays and manual processing of activity analysis information was hurting our clients ability to build credibility in the organization and to act quickly on the ABC results • As companies move to frequent updates of their ABC analysis, they require a tool to update the data easily. Current tools are too expensive or too complicated or do not work very well • There is too long a delay between the completion of activity analysis and the production of activity cost results. We wanted to change that.
What Does ASQ Do • ASQ (Activity Survey Questionnaire) is an intranet application that is specifically designed to capture employee activity time information and then report on that information and stage the information for import into ABC software • ASQ is designed to be easy and quick to use. An employee can enter their activity time information in less that 10 minutes • An administrator’s utility allows for easy set up and maintenance of all data and user information
Why Is This Important • ABC information is only useful if it is timely and relevant • The average ABC model can take over 2 months to update using manual data collection • Analysts should spend their time using the ABC information, not continually updating the data • Without timely ABC data, imprecise decisions may be made
