  1. RISING ACTION PRACTICE SLOOOOOWING DOWN THE MOMENT!

  2. Let's Practice Getting the Rising Action Started The lunch bell blared through the halls while children dashed from classrooms out the back doors toward the blacktop. The sun smiled down warming the air. Jerry, like the Pied Piper, led the way right towards the swings pushing and shoving every child in his way. Frankie slowly followed behind staying a few steps in the distance. Lunch aides closely watched the children swinging from monkey bars, sliding down, and running around from obstacle to obstacle. Jerry knew he would have to be sneaky as he made his way over to his first victim, Samantha, a petite and innocent third grader. Frankie watched, his stomach twisting and turning. Slowly and carefully, Jerry crept over to Samantha playing on the swings. She was enjoying herself with her friends, laughing and giggling. Jerry screamed as loud as he could yelling at Samantha to get off, but she refused to budge. With his fists clenched and smoke billowing from his ears, Jerry looked Samantha dead in the eyes.

  3. LET'S Practice SLOWING Down a Moment Example: Rayna was out in the cold while a snow storm was coming. Attempt 1: looking for footsteps Attempt 2: She tried to run Attempt 3: She followed the North Star just like her Mama told her since she was little

  4. Attempt 2: She tried to run. Tears filled her eyes, and her lips quivered. The snow began to pick up speed, numbing her face making it almost impossible to see anything in sight. Trudging through the snow, Rayna tried to remember the way home, but moving even inch practically paralyzed her body. She tried to run, but it was like fighting an endless battle. Feeling hopeless, Rayna wanted to give up the fight, but she knew she had to get home to her mother. Risking her life would be risking her mother's as well.
