Classroom Expectations Ms. Jackson’s 7th Grade Science Class
Student Behaviors • Be on time • Be ready to learn when class begins. • I count tardies! • Be prepared • Have materials with you EVERY day • Science Notebook (You will leave this in the classroom.) • Laptop – charged! (You will not be able to use your phone as an alternative.) • Pen/Pencil • Student Planner (Paper, laptop, etc.) • Paper • No spinners, putty, slime, or other non-academic materials
Be polite. • When someone else is talking, you are not. • If you don’t have something nice or productive to say, don’t say anything. • Do not get out of your seat during instruction. • Be productive. • Turn in work on time, and always do your best. • Use class time wisely. • Be a problem solver. • Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.
Show Respect • Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values. • Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. • Honor the ideas and opinions of others – even if you don’t agree. • Offer to help. • Be responsible with property and belongings.***
Responsibility for Coursework • Complete all assignments on time. You will have a zero in the grade book for assignments that are not turned in. • Do your BEST on everything you turn in. • Use your student planner to record assignments, due dates, and important information. • Check Skyward regularly for missing work!!
Policies • NO CELL PHONES! You have a laptop that can be used for all technology needs. • BEFORE you enter the classroom, place phone in your backpack. • If I see your phone out, I will take it up and keep it in a locked cabinet. You may pick it up at the end of the day. I will send your parent an email that you had your phone out without permission. • Do not ask if you can have your phone to listen to music while you work. The answer is NO.
STAY IN YOUR SEAT unless instructed otherwise. • If you need a tissue, raise your hand. • If you need supplies, raise your hand. • If you have trash, raise your hand. • If you have a question, raise your hand. • No gum • There will be NO perfumes, colognes or body spray (includes AXE and strong perfumed lotions) used in the classroom.
Absences • It is YOUR responsibility to check with me for your assignments. • If you miss a lab, you may be given an alternate assignment. • Ask about make-up work before school, during tutoring or after school.
Grading • Grades are based on the accumulation of points. • Points are based on: • Daily/Homework/Quizzes – 60% • Tests/Labs/Projects – 40% • Grades are posted online • Our Grading Scale • 90-100% = A • 80-89% = B • 70-79% = C • Below 70% = F • Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up whenever possible.
My Pledge to Students • I will trust you until you give me reason not to. • I will treat you like seventh graders as long as you are behaving like seventh graders. • I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. • I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. • I will work with you to meet learning goals. • I will offer extra help should you need it.
