  2. My Hero • Martin was born on January 15, 1929. • He was named Michael .His name was changed later to Martin. • Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great man. He did a lot for “Everyone”.

  3. Why I chose Martin? Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is my hero because he believed in Peace and Non-violence. He helped a lot of people. I hope to grow up to be a leader and help people. I want to have the hopes and dreams to have a better world for us all.

  4. Martin’s Early Life • He was a Pastor. • He married Coretta Scott. • They had 2 sons and 2 daughters.

  6. Martin Went To College • He received a B.A. degree in 1948;from Morehead College. • He studied at the CrozerTheological Seminary. • He received his Doctorate degree in 1955 from Boston University. • He was elected President of the Southern Christian Conference in 1957.

  7. Martin L. King , Jr. Civil Rights Leader • Martin became a civil rights leader around 1955. • He marched to Washington D.C. • He traveled over 6 million miles. • He spoke over 25 times wherever there was injustice.

  9. Martin’s Impact In the future, I think people will still admire Martin Luther King. He changed the world by not giving into violence and preaching fair rights for all humanity.

  10. Word Meanings Civil right means Boycott To join together refusing to deal with. Conference means a formal meeting for discussion. Having to do with private rights of individuals. March means to walk with regular steps. Nonviolent means abstaining from violence.

  11. Injustice The injustice to mankind made Martin stand up for all people. The rights of human beings were violated. He became a leader to help correct the injustice of us all. He wanted everyone to get along.
