  1. MSS 382Space Power Theory • New MSS Elective – currently scheduled for 11 cadets • Proposed Text: “Space Power Theory” by Jim Oberg • Encourages cadets to innovate beyond current doctrinal boundaries by learning to think theoretically about air and space power • Identify / examine existing propositions, frameworks and assumptions of both air power and space power doctrine and strategy • Generate & critique alternatives to current approaches to air and space power • Examine current and notional characteristics of aerospace platforms and debate critical theoretical issues such as the integration and/or separation of air and space power • Final exam. Prereq: None. Sem hrs: 3. Fall.

  2. Battlespace Awareness Warfighting Laboratory (BAWL) • Educate cadets in battlespace awareness to better facilitate their understanding the numerous military assets role in military strategy • Objectives: • Integrate the “Warrior Spirit” in education • Apply classroom learned theories and concepts to a high fidelity battlespace environment • Foundation for cadet situational awareness of battlespace • Satisfies SECAF endorsed USAFA Core Initiative 001F.1 & Core Initiative 003A.2 • “World-class”, one-of-a-kind facility

  3. Program Aim Higher • PROJECT Aim Higher (PAH) will show cadets the value of space by educating them on space environment, capabilities, orbital strategies, application in military strategies, operations, integration into joint forces, and future potential. • PAH will be part of the 34 Education Group (34 EG) Military Strategic Studies (MSS) program and administered by the 34 Education Squadron (34 ES) • Cadets will achieve 16 PAH learning objectives that pertain to space at various levels of cadet interest • Four-level educational system • Level 4 will provide cadets with space-awareness education for those cadets pursuing non-space majors and careers • Level 3 will be more in depth and target cadets that are planning to be space officers • Level 2 will dive deeper for those cadets that major in Space Operations or MSS • Level 1, deeper still, for cadets who major in space and pursue a space career • Cadets would be authorized to wear a cadet space badge to designate their participation • An MSS instructor will direct/facilitate PAH and liaison with AFSPC, Space Warfare Center (SWC), and Space Operations School (SOPSC) • Eventually this PROJECT would become a Cadet Space Operations and Strategy School (CSOSS) • SWC offered to split the cost of setting up the facility, which will be the located in the former TWOC in Vandenberg Hall.
