  14. RGC: Research Grants & Contracts Deborah Golden-Eppelein PI Committed Effort PIs/Co-PIs may not be 100% funded on federal sponsored projects. OHSU must enforce this regulation as stated in OMB Circular A-21. This is not a new requirement. A risk based assessment by OHSU leadership determined that we must be compliant. RAIN: 7-18-2013

  15. RGC: Research Grants & Contracts Deborah Golden-Eppelein PI Committed Effort: Why? To ensure that certain unallowable activities are not funded through federal sponsored projects. Examples of Unallowable Activities: Gathering/developing data for writing proposals, including writing, editing, and submission of applications. Department/Division administration like chair/head duties. Service on an IRB or IACUC Board. See policy for more on instances of unallowability. RAIN: 7-18-2013

RGC: Research Grants & Contracts Deborah Golden-Eppelein When Committed Effort Doesn’t Apply Not generally applicable to Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows or scientists outside of PI/Co-Iwho do not apply for external sponsored funding. Recipients of K awards and those supported through other fellowships are excluded. RAIN: 7-18-2013

Provost’s Office will review for over-commitment in normal course of approvalsfor faculty appointments, FTE changes, etc. RAIN: 7-18-2013

RGC: Research Grants & Contracts Kellie Guentert NIH Announcement Adjustment to Transition Timeline for Electronic Submission of Multi-project Applications: NOT-OD-13-075 Developed ASSIST – online system that feeds into Grants.gov RGC will be able to submit via InfoEd, but not in time for September 2013 deadlines. ORIO: Conflict of Interest in Research (CoIR) Changes in eCoI for Researchers w/SFIs eCoI = reporting system in Big Brain for disclosure of outside activities, significant financial interests (SFIs) and related research. Two changes coming soon: #1 - Signers/Reviewers for the submitted form #2 - Required documentation of research related to SFIs (or attestation that there is none). Hilde Wette RAIN: 6-20-2013

  43. ORIO: Conflict of Interest in Research (CoIR) Change #1: Level 2 Signers become Reviewers Currently: 2 signatures required. Coming soon: Disclosures will require only a Level 1 signature prior to CoI office review. L2 reviewers still review but don’t sign disclosures.   44. ORIO: Conflict of Interest in Research (CoIR) Change #2: Ensures All Related Research Listed Currently: may submit form without listing research. Coming soon: Researchers will be required to check a box prior to form submission stating that related research is listed OR have no research related to SFIs.
