Commission is trustee of IC; makes necessary arrangements for statutory meetings Composition: 9 members in total – 5 from national societies (elected), 4 representatives of ICRC and IFRC (ex officio) Procedure: Candidatures to be submitted 48 hrs. before election Call for nominations late August / early September Informal deadline around mid-October Publication of candidatures on conference website Informal "Meet-the-Candidates" – 9 December Fair geographical distribution to be observed Elections to the Standing Commission

Primary function: provide guidance to organizers of IC on political and strategic questions advise on potential problems of a political nature provide advice on follow-up and reporting on previous Conference commitments consult with and promote aims of IC in capitals and among diplomatic and humanitarian communities in Geneva HoMs willing to take part should be motivated to dedicate their time and energy to formal meetings and informal consultations Group of Ambassadors
