  1. Lies, Truths, and Non-Disclosures

  2. When Reading Dialogue - • Watch for the commas and dashes and ellipses • When I was young, I ate a lot of junk food. • It was unusual – at least I thought it was – for her to be there that night. • I know that you said…it was wrong, but she said…that you were wrong. • If words are italic, it means extra emphasis • Teaching really is a calling for me. It is! • Use the direction given with the words. • Philip replied angrily, “I did not lie!” (if there is an exclamation point, exclaim!)

  3. The man shouted loudly, “Look out below!” “I can’t believe you lost your sister!” the mother said hysterically. “We always have to sit in the back!” the kid whined loudly. The girl said in a devastated voice, “You said you would love me forever!” “Try and catch me!” the child said happily to the father. “Why do you think you’re grounded?”the father said angrily to the son.

  4. The old man said softly, “I believe in miracles.” “Why do you think you’re grounded?”the father said angrily to the son. “Look behind you! A monster!” the girls said with terror in her voice. “Have a Merry Christmas Mrs. Smith!” the girls said giggling.

  5. What can you infer from looking at the title and cover of the book? What does it mean when the court says “Do you swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God? Does anyone ever lie?
