Assessment of Solid and Wastewater Leachate Impacts in Rural Alaska

This study focuses on the assessment of leachate from solid waste and wastewater sites in rural Alaska. By conducting soil and water sampling around dump and wastewater areas, the research aims to analyze inorganic (metals) and organic contaminants (such as phthalates, biphenyl, and PAHs), along with microbial indicators (E. coli, Enterococcus). The primary objective is to identify stressors that pose significant risks to public health and the environment, contributing to better management and mitigation strategies in these vulnerable regions.
