  6. Stem Changing Verbs

  7. Remember there are 3 different types of stem changing verbs , (E-IE), (O-UE), and (E-I). Here is an example of an E-IE stem changing verb. Remember it this is a Shoe/Boot Verb. That means it only changes in the boot!! • Pensar- Pienso • Pensar (ie) To think; to plan • Yo pienso nosotros pensamos • Tú piensasvosotros pensáis • Él/ella/ud. piensa ellos/as uds. Piensan IT NEVER STEM CHANGES IN THE NOSOTROS OR VOSOTROS FORMS

  8. There are other stem-changing (ie) verbs that are just like Pensar. Here they are!!!! • Cerrar= to close empezar= to begin • Entender= to understand merendar= to have a snack • Perder= to lose preferir= to prefer • Querer= to want

  10. O-UE stem changing verbs Remember it this is a Shoe/Boot Verb. That means it only changes in the boot!! • Poder- Puedo • Poder (ie) To be able to; can • Yo puedo nosotros podemos • Tú puedesvosotros podéis • Él/ella/ud. puede ellos/as uds. Pueden IT NEVER STEM CHANGES IN THE NOSOTROS OR VOSOTROS FORMS

  11. There are other stem-changing (o-ue) verbs that are just like Poder. Here they are!!!! • almozarr= to eat lunch encontrar= to find; meet • costar= to cost • volver= to return • dormir= to sleep

  12. E-I stem changing verbs Remember it this is a Shoe/Boot Verb. That means it only changes in the boot!! • Servir- sirvo • Servir= To serve • Yo sirvo nosotros servimos • Tú sirvesvosotros servís • Él/ella/ud. Sirve ellos/as uds. sirven IT NEVER STEM CHANGES IN THE NOSOTROS OR VOSOTROS FORMS
