  2. Criteria FOr Historical Significance • Person, event or object which: • A. Results in change and/or • B. Is revealing in some way

  3. Resulting in Change Three things to consider: • Profundity • Quantity • Longevity

  4. Revealing • How a person or event sheds light on emerging issues in history or contemporary life • Links to greater narratives

  5. Activity • Choose the 3 most important things that have happened in the history of humanity. • Why? What/who did it change? Did it reveal underlying issues?

  6. Group Activity • Choose 5 events you consider the most important for North American History between the years 1500-1815 (SS9) • For each explain in 1-2 sentences why it is historically significant
