  4. Human & Physical Features Saint Lucia is a small island. It has an area of 238 sq. miles. On the other hand, the U.S.A. has a total area of 3,974,083 sq. miles. With this in mind, Saint Lucia only has 172 passenger cars per 1,000 people, since 1996. Since the U.S. is bigger, it has 789 passenger cars, per 1,000 people. Saint Lucia is a developed country, because they live to about 73.7 years of age. The U.S. is also a developed country and their life expectancy is 78.2 years of age. Both countries live a pretty long life. Also, they are a developed country because Saint Lucia has 517 doctors per 1,000 population. Saint Lucia may be a smaller country, but they have more doctors than the U.S. The U.S. has 256 doctors, per 1,000 population. Saint Lucia also has a literacy rate of 90%, while the U.S.A. has a literacy rate of 86%, which is lower than Saint Lucia. In conclusion, Saint Lucia is a small island, but it has a good literacy rate, life expectancy, good amount of doctors, and many more great human and physical features.

  5. Flag Did you know that Saint Lucia’s flag became British 1814? Saint Lucia’s flag has a lot of neat and interesting facts! To begin with, some facts of the flag is the blue in the flag represents fidelity. Also, the blue reflects Saint Lucia’s tropical sky, and their oceans, like the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The gold in the flag represents the prevailing sunshine in the Caribbean, and it’s prosperity. In addition, the black and white colors in the flag stand for the cultural influence of different races. The white part, the white culture. The black part, the black culture, other two races living and working in unity. Next, let’s learn some interesting flag history. The Saint Lucian flag was adopted on March 1, 1967. Another flag history fact is that Saint Lucia was first settled by France in 1650 and was used as the same flag Martinique, it’s neighboring island to the North. One more fact about Saint Lucia’s flag is that it was designed by a Saint Lucian artist, named Dunstan Saint Omer. In conclusion, I hope you learned some of Saint Lucia’s flag meanings, flag history, and some flag facts.

  7. Religion Most of Saint Lucia practicesChristianity. First of all, 61.5% are Roman Catholic and 25.5% are Protestant. Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ in C.30 AD, Israel. Also, there are at least 2 billion people who practice Christianity worldwide. Christians believe in one God, who is a trinity of Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit. Therefore, if they have sinned, they are thereby separated from God. Salvation is through faith in Christ and for some, sacraments and good works. Christians go to eternal heaven, hell, or temporary purgatory after their lives end. Some of their practices include prayer, Bible study, Baptism, Eucharist, church on Sunday, and numerous holidays. The Bible (Old and New Testament) is the text Christians use. In conclusion, Saint Lucia’s religions aren’t just Christianity, but most of the Saint Lucian’s are Christians. Hopefully you learned something new about Christianity.

  8. Timeline 1972 - St Lucia becomes independent with John Compton. He is leader of the united Workers Party (UWP) as Prime Minister. 2004 - July - Volcanic twin peaks - The Pitons - Are declared a Unesco world heritage site. 2011 - December - Kenny Anthony becomes Prime Minister. After his SLP wins a snap general election. 1982 - John Compton returns to power. After his UWP wins a decisive victory in general election. 1993 - Fall in the price of bananas. It leads to arrest and strikes by farmers and agricultural workers.

  9. Animals, Plants, & Natural Resources Saint Lucia has many amazing animals, plants, and natural resources. For the time being, one of Saint Lucia’s animals is the Jacquot, it’s only found in Saint Lucia. It lives in the rain forest of central mountains of the island, Saint Lucia. Also, another animal that lives in Saint Lucia that you probably know about is the sea turtle! Sea turtles eat jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrimp, sponges, snails, algae, and mollusks. For the time being, let’s learn about some plants Saint Lucia grows. Bananas are a big crop grown in Saint Lucia! Bananas aren’t just yellow or green, they can also be red! Bananas also contain 75% of water and an average banana weighs 125 grams. Next, cocoanuts! Technically the coconut fruit is a drupe, not a nut. Now let’s move onto natural resources. One natural resource Saint Lucia uses is the mineral Pumice. Pumice is often used to help aid in the removal of dead skin cells. It also refers to a volcanic glass full of cavities and very low in density, that is used especially in powder form for something and polishers. In conclusion, you learned about Saint Lucia’s animals, plants, and natural resources.
