The Academy at a Glance: Mission • Provide current Kentucky school principals a world-class opportunity through specialized professional development in a cohort model that will inspire, enhance, and lead principals to improve student learning.
The Academy at a Glance: Vision • Through effective, responsive leadership every school in Kentucky will reach proficiency by 2014.
The Academy at a Glance: Beliefs • Education must be of a learner-centered culture • Decisions must be predominantly data driven and result in continuous and sustainable change over time • Resource allocations must yield increased student achievement • Leaders must engage in partnerships to learn from each other • Leadership development must reinforce beliefs and practices • Leaders must inspire and engage others to learn and lead
The Academy at a Glance: Participants • Current public school principals with three or more years experience • An innate desire to move student achievement to the next level • Superintendent and School Board support
The Academy at a Glance: Time Commitment • Application and Interview Process • Two days of independent preparation • Two day orientation in May • Five day summer institute in June • Cohort follow-up meetings as appropriate
