  3. The History of the Harp The harp is one of the earliest musical instruments ever made. Egyptians tombs from 3000 B.C. depict harps The earliest harps were made from the hunting bow. In Ireland, harpists would perform in front of royalty. It was a requirement for them to induce tears, laughter, and sleep. The pedals were built into the harp a bit before 1720 In 1810, the double action pedals for the harp were created. More historical facts can be found at this site.

My Harp History • I began playing the harp when I was eight years old • I purchased my own pedal harp two years later • I took private lessons from Dr. Beverly Wesner-Hoen. • I perfomed with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra at age 12. • I taught private lessons in my teen years • I have performed in the symphony at BYU-Idaho for two and a half years

  5. Fun Facts About the Harp The harp was made the symbol for Ireland. Harp players are usually called harpists. The Irish and Scottish harp players are known as harpers. The red strings are the note “C.” The black strings are the note “F.” Link from the video game Zelda plays the harp.
