  2. WHAT IS A DIRECT OBJECT? • The direct object answers the question WHO or WHAT after the verb. • Most of the time it is a noun. WHAT IS THE DIRECT OBJECT? John drinks Coke. Maria and I give my friend a hug. We read the poem.

  3. WHAT IS A PRONOUN? What is the problem with these sentences? I love fried chicken. I eat fried chicken. I buy fried chicken. I cook fried chicken. it it it We use “fried chicken” too much! Pronouns are used to eliminate repetition! Pronouns are used all of the time!!!

  4. PRONOUNS IN SPANISH me nos How do they work? me we, us 1. Identify the Direct Object of the sentence. te os 2. Choose what pronoun to use you yall • Eliminate the D.O. and replace with the pronoun. los las lo / la it them Roberto hace el refresco. lo

  5. WHAT PRONOUN DO WE USE? WHAT IS THE DIRECT OBJECT? LAS LOS LO LAS LA LA NOS ME We eat hamburgers. They read the books. Nosotros tomamos el agua. Mis padres andan las bicicletas. Mario hace la tarea. Lucia prepara la cena. Yo invito a nosotros a la fiesta. Tú ayudas a mi. If the direct object is a PERSON you need an “A” before it.

  6. HEY SEÑOR, WHERE DO THE PRONOUNS GO? 1. Before the conjugated verb. Yo como la cena…………Yo la como. 2. Attached to an infinitive. Voy a comer la cena……..Voy a comerla.

  7. TRANSLATE THESE SENTENCES… • I want it. • We play it. • I buy them. • I am scared. • She is eating them. • Dad has to clean it. • I hug you. (abrazar) • You invite me. Yo lo/la quiero. Lo/la jugamos. Yo los/las compro. Tengo miedo. Ella los come. Papá lo tiene que limpiar. Te abrazo. Me invitas.

  8. RE-WRITE THESE SENTENCES… Mis padres alquilan videos. Yocompro tacos. Ellosinvitan a nosotros. Mis padres los alquilan. Los compro. Nos invitan.
