  3. Review 1 Peter 1:1–2 (NLT) This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. 2 God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.

  7. Change Agents of Life & Hope THE BELIEVER’S SECURED FUTURE INHERITANCE – EXPLAINED “Inheritance” in the New Testament has profound theological meaning and great significance to the Christian.

Change Agents of Life & Hope INHERITANCE – EXPLAINED Inheritance includes Salvation, Eternal Life Titus 3:7 (NLT) Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.” Hebrews 1:14 (NLT) Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. Hebrews 9:15 (NLT) That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. Romans 8:17 (NIV) Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Ephesians 2:6 (NLT) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? Matthew 25:34 (NLT) “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.

Change Agents of Life & Hope INHERITANCE – EXPLAINED Inheritance includes Glorified Bodies 2 Corinthians 5:1–3 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. . . .3 For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. Philippians 3:21 (NLT) — 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own,

They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. 44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

Isaiah 65: 17 “Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.

And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.

All these things are gone forever.” 5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” 6 And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.

Change Agents of Life & Hope INHERITANCE – EXPLAINED Inheritance in Blessings of God’s Redeemed World (3) Revelation 21:1–8 (NLT) 7 All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. 8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore. 18 Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness. Her people will be a source of joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard in it no more. . . . The wolf and the lamb will feed together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. But the snakes will eat dust. In those days no one will be hurt or destroyed on my holy mountain. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Change Agents of Life & Hope TALKING POINTS It should Affect our World-view in this Life Colossians 3:1–4 (NLT) — Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. . . . 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT) So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

If you become captured with your eternal future, and what God has planned for you—it will change dramatically your world-view and how you give yourself to living life.
