The Harborview Fellowship focuses on equipping disciples to embody the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. We encourage unity of mind, sympathy, and brotherly love, rooted in the principles outlined in 1 Peter 3:8-17. Our mission is to enable individuals to live distinctly, witness boldly, and respond to challenges with compassion and respect. We are called to bless others, pursue peace, and maintain good conduct, especially in difficult times. Join us as we strive to be agents of hope and life in an ever-challenging world.

  3. Agents of Hope & Life Distinct Life – Ready Witness 1 Peter 3:8-17

  4. 1 Peter 3:8–17 (ESV)Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 9 Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. 10 For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 11 let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

  5. 1 Peter 3:8–17 (ESV)13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil.

Kingdom Action vs. 9 • Do not repay evil or reviling • BUT bless . . . for to this you were called • Romans 12:20–21 (NIV) On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

  9. Distinct Life & Ready Witness The Quote vs. 10-12 The Purpose The Message 1 Peter 3:10-12 For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 11 let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

  11. Distinct Life & Ready Witness The Question vs. 13-14 2. The Question Answered 1 Peter 3:14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Matthew 5:11–12 (ESV) “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

  12. Distinct Life & Ready Witness The Question vs. 13-14 2. The Question Answered 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (ESV) So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
