  1. VVTA Tentative Agreement What does it mean?

  2. Health and Welfare • The current cost of H&W benefits: • UHC = $12,968 Kaiser = $15,323 Projected actual increase for UHC for next year is Between 2%-4%. We don’t know for Kaiser, yet. • All H&W benefits will be fully paid this year. The base number of $15,323 will be used to cover benefits. Next year, the district will pay the $15,323 plus a 5% increase. This would bring their payment to $16,089.

  3. Potential Problems • Kaiser increases by more than 5% for next year. Then the additional monies would come out of your pocket. • OR • Kaiser people could switch to current UHC plan and they would be totally covered. • All insurance rates could skyrocket in next few years and we would all be stuck paying out of pocket.

  4. H&W after next year… • For each additional year, going on indefinitely, to next year’s cap would be added the funded COLA each year. • If the COLA is announced but not funded, it would not be added on to the cap; otherwise, the cap would increase every year. • This is known as a soft cap—which, if we approve the contract, we would now have.

  5. Why we chose to accept the cap District VVTA • Not willing to budge on this item. • They would have gone through fact finding (and lost) and then imposed a hard cap—no increases after two years—on us. • We would have received no pay increases. • We would not have received our furlough days back. • By agreeing to the soft cap, we were able to put off paying out-of-pocket for a while. • We strengthened our stance on the other issues.

  6. Potential Increases in H&W5% Increases vs 2% COLA • 2013-14 =$ 12,968 • 2014-15 = $ 13,616 • 2015-16 = $ 14,297 • 2016-17 = $ 15,012 • 2017-18 = $ 15,762 • 2018-19 = $ 16,550 • 2019-20 = $ 17,378 • 2020-21 = $ 18,246 • 2021-22 = $ 19,159 • 2013-14 = $ 15,323 • 2014-15 = $ 16,089 • 2015-16 = $ 16,410 • 2016-17 = $ 16,739 • 2017-18 = $ 17,074 • 2018-19 = $ 17,415 • 2019-20 = $ 17,764 • 2020-21 = $ 18,119 • 2021-22 = $ 18,481

  7. Article 1—Salary • 2013-14 • 2% one time off schedule • 3% on salary schedule • 2014-15 • 5% on salary schedule

  8. How much 2% one time payment is

  9. 3% Retro Pay

  10. New 2013-14 Salary Schedule

  11. 2014-15 Salary Schedule (5%)

  12. Professional Development 3 PD days and 1 Non Student Regular Work Day at PER DIEM

  13. Per Diem is figured by taking 1/180 =.00555… Thus, 3 times .0055 = .0167. You would multiply this times your base salary to get how much you will earn.

  14. What would 3 PD give me?

  15. Restoration of 8 Furlough Days 8/183 =4.37% restored—as it should be.

  16. Set date for consultation with VVTA regarding LCAP What is LCAP? Local Control and Accountability Plan. It is the new and weighted student formula for funding education in California. There are eight (8) priority areas identified by the State of California. We have not been included, other than superficially, in the discussions about student achievement, etc. This will mandate that we will be consulted about this (really, in this district, rather meaningless), BUT we will negotiate the effects of their decisions as they relate to our bargaining unit.

  17. Duration Full contract expires on June 30, 2015

  18. Reopeners Two (2) articles may be opened on each side. This will be determined by a survey that we conduct, later.

  19. Questions?And, hopefully,answers.
