  1. Mrs. Hunt’s Classroom Policies and Procedures

  2. Homework • Every student needs to read at least 20 minutes per night and complete their reading log each night. They must choose to respond to a question or statement at least 3 days per week. • I do not give homework over the weekend. However if a student chooses to procrastinate on projects or other things, they may have weekend work. • If homework is not complete, students will be sent to study hall to complete the assignment.

  3. Rewards • Fun Friday – Each week students are allowed to choose an activity they would like to do: Art, Board Games, Video, Outside Recess. • Weekly Raffle – Each day that a student ends on green, they will receive a raffle ticket. • At the end of each week we pull 3 names (sometimes more depending on overall behavior). They get to choose a prize!

  4. Discipline • Students who choose not to work in class will go to study hall to finish their work. • Consequences will depend on the offense, but will likely result in the following: • Yellow = Warning. No recess • Orange = Inside Lunch; No recess • Red = Meeting with Mr. Monroe, Call home, recess detention, and inside lunch • Students who cannot work well in groups may have to move to a single desk. • If a problem is severe enough the student will be sent to the principal or assistant principal. • I mark all daily behavior in your child’s agenda. Please be sure to sign every night!

  5. Absences and Make-up Work • If your child is going to absent for a prolonged period of time please email me and I will get work together for them that they can work on from home. • It is the child's responsibility to find out what they missed the next day. The missed class work will be due 2 days later. (Ex. Missed Mon. work due by Wed.)

  6. A.R. • Students are expected to meet their AR goals each quarter(point goal and percentage correct goal). • Goals are based on the child's level which is determined by the STAR test. • We have 20 minutes of AR time each day. • In order to reach their goal, I require the students to take and pass 5 non-fiction tests per quarter.

  7. Agendas • Agendas will be filled out daily listing our activities/skills. Anything that is highlighted will be unfinished work that needs to be completed at home. • Parents, please sign agendas each night. • If agendas are not signed, students will miss 5 minutes of recess. • This consequence will help them establish responsibility and will help them prepare for the future. • From time to time I will put notes in students agendas, feel free to do the same!

  8. Bathroom Policy • Students should be using the restroom before school, during lunch, during recess, and after school. • They get one freebie a day • If a student chooses to go after their 1 freebie, they will owe me one of their raffle tickets.

  9. Snacks and Drinks • We have a snack time every morning around 10:30. Students are expected to continue to work during this time. • Snacks should be healthyand nut free as we are a “Nut free/Allergy aware” classroom. • Please send students with water bottles, especially these first few weeks as it is very hot outside. • Please no sodas or juice boxes for in the classroom. Those may be taken to lunch.

  10. Birthdays • If you would like to bring birthday treats please make sure they are store bought and nut freeand that there are enough for all students. • Invitations to birthday parties should be handed out before or after school.

  11. Tiger of the Week! • Each child will be our “Tiger of the Week” this year. • Every day, this student will be responsible for sharing different things that represent them: • MONDAY: Share poster • TUESDAY: Favorite book • WEDNESDAY: Share pictures • THURSDAY: Share parent letter

  12. Newsletter • Every week I will post our weekly newsletter on my website in an effort to save paper. If you are unable to access the internet, please let me know I will do my best to send home a paper copy. • I will also be posting our spelling/reading log homework packet each week on my website incase it is lost during the week. Feel free to print from home.  I will not be posting nightly homework as this is the students responsibility to manage. 
