  2. Warm-Up List three characteristics of a nonfiction text. Then, list three examples of nonfiction text.

  3. Characteristics of Nonfiction • A lot of information on to be taken in (facts, data, statistics, etc.) • Headings, subheadings, and footnotes • Charts, pictures/diagrams, and maps (with captions and labels) • Unfamiliar vocabulary (usually in bold or italics)

  4. Examples of Nonfiction • Newspaper or Magazine Articles • Textbooks • Recipes • Instruction Manuals/Directions • Books • Biographies/Autobiographies • Personal Narratives • Memoirs
