  5. Hardware Requirements • Minimum of 1GHz Processor Speed (Recommended) • 80 Mb free space on Hard Drive • Internet Connection • Updates • Upgrades

  6. Software Components VirusScan Console: Create, configure, and run virus scan tasks On-Access Scanner: Continuous Protection against viruses that arrive on disk. - Runs whenever a file is transferred between the internet and your computer.

  8. Installation Part 1 of 6 • Goto http://www.umbc.edu/oit • Click on “Anti-Virus Software” under security section

  9. Installation Part 2 of 6 • Click on Get McAfee • Enter your UMBC Login Name and Password

  10. Installation Part 3 of 6 • Select the link for off campus or on campus depending on your location

  11. Installation Part 4 of 6 • Select which installer to download based on operating system or processor speed

  12. Installation Part 5 of 6 • Click on the open button for the installer you downloaded

  13. Installation Part 6 of 6 • Click on the Setup button to initiate install.

  14. First Time Scan Part 1 of 5 • Open VirusScan Console located in the Start Menu under network associates

  15. First Time Scan Part 2 of 5 • Now select scan all fixed disks by double clicking the option.

  16. First Time Scan Part 3 of 5 • Use the add button to select and add any Network Drives you would like to have scanned

  17. First Time Scan Part 4 of 5 • To finally initiate the scan select “Scan Now” from the scan properties console.

  18. First Time Scan Part 5 of 5 • Use the pause and stop button if you need to use the computer and your system is low on resources because of the scan.
