The Lunokhod Programme was a groundbreaking initiative in the exploration of the Moon, developed by Alexander Kemurdzhian between 1969-1977. It featured unmanned lunar rovers, Lunokhod 1 and Lunokhod 2, which provided invaluable data and images from the Moon's surface. Launched by the Luna project, Lunokhod 1 successfully landed on November 10, 1970, covering over 10.5 km and transmitting more than 20,000 TV images. Lunokhod 2, more advanced, operated successfully between January 8-15, 1973, showcasing Soviet technological prowess and innovation in space exploration.
